Now this is a deal. MyShape, a personal shopping web portal for women is giving away $500 each day in October for Breast Cancer Awareness month. It looks like ladies have to become a member to MyShape’s site but it may just be worth it. MyShape is also giving away $500 a day to the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation. Dreams Do Really Come True

leave a comment »

On Friday, I was doing my daily mountain climb in the San Francisco Bay Area. The trail is long and is roughly 6 miles. 3 miles out and 3 miles back. It is not easy but it really teaches you persistence and hard work. While on the trail, I go over my daily goals and aspirations and put together my strategies to make the dream work.

Dreams Come True with Patience and Persistence

Dreams Come True with Patience and Persistence

I also do visualizations while on the trail as I look at the peak of Mt. Diablo dreaming about making these dreams come real. I made a statement to myself saying that I wanted to increase my website traffic to generate over 4,000 actual hits for the month of October 2009. I didn’t think anything of it and kept jogging. I actually had a lot of things on my mind but I like to put those aside when on this trail. I deal with myself, God, and me and nothing more while on this trail. It’s when God speaks to me the most.

I came back to the house, showered, and got busy working and laying down my plans. Friday evening, a call comes to me from one of my clients in Atlanta, GA to tell me about a story of interest. I contemplated whether or not I should run the story since it was such short notice. I decided to run it, thought no more about it, and went out with friends for drinks and then came back home and went to bed.

I woke up Saturday morning October 3, 2009 at about 8:00 a.m. to head to the mountain again. Before I set out on this daily journey, I decided to check my Google Analytics and stats for all web publishing sites. I had over 7,000 hits of that story in less than 12 hours from posting it. Remember, Friday morning on the trail I had asked God to help me get to 4,000 for the month. Not only was this answered but it was far exceeded.

This is an example of visualization and actualization. Dreams do become reality with these two ingredients and it will happen for you too. I had no idea that it would be like that. I just put the dream out to the universe and let the Universal Mind and Spirit take over. Please keep your dreams alive and continue to push forward to reach all of your goals. There are no limits as you see God helped me completely destroy my own self imposed limit of 4,000 for the entire month.

The Black Mans Emergency Survival Kit

leave a comment »

I used to attend Muslim meetings at Your Black Muslim Bakery on San Pablo Avenue in Oakland, CA with Adisa Banjoko and Dr. Bey used to always say “As steel sharpens steel, men sharpen men and vice versa for women.” I agree.

As the world has been literally shocked with the violent death related news of several black men, I thought it prudent to come out and help tell our black men how to stay out of morgues, jails, and prisons.

Black Men Beware of beautiful prisons designed just for US.

Black Men Beware of beautiful prisons designed just for US.

First of all, when an encounter or beef starts to escalate, we men handle it differently than women. Black women can get in each others face and not let it escalate. We do NOT handle in your face tactics. If someone gets in your face and challenges you, walk away. Do not retaliate. Do not buck up. Do not start screaming and yelling. This helps you stay alive to live another day.

Learn to know when to buck up and when to walk. Most encounters happen because of our male ego and especially as black men. We typically don’t want anyone seeming superior to us so we will act a fool when someone decides to get loud or challenge our manhood. Again, know when to walk away. Not every situation requires you to prove you’re the man. Sometimes being the man is swallowing your pride and walking away. Learn to control your anger or it will completely DOMINATE YOU.

If it appears as though someone is ready to take out a knife and start a battle with you, even if you have a gun, walk away. You don’t need to kill them and take their life. You are setting in motion something that you know nothing about. Walk away even if you feel confident with your .44 Magnum locked and loaded. This does not make you a man and determine your power. You will be headed for a 25 years to life bid in the big house.

Know that violence is not always the answer to every black mans problem. Just because you may be having a hard time and some one crosses you, you do not need to resort to violence. Solve this by learning to come to peace with who you are as a man. Run into the church and get your spirit washed and cleansed. Get healed of anything that makes you feel inferior or like you can’t achieve your dreams.

Find another black man and talk to him about how you feel. Find him at bible study or find him at the church, mosque, masjid, temple, or somewhere in a spiritual or educational environment. He is out there waiting to help.

Chasing Money Can Hurt You

leave a comment »

We’ve all heard the saying that chasing money is NOT healthy. For years, my company was based in the Silicon Valley. Great clients, great money. I never had to go anywhere and serviced clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. That was until the dot com implosion and everything came crumbling down.

After the planes bombed the World Trade Center Towers in New York City on September 11, 2001, the sector that I primarily made money in pretty much went belly up. When the planes hit the buildings and my brother called and asked if I saw it, I sat there and knew at that time that my corporate clients would be tough to find.

From 2002-2006, I was on the road. Forced into being a road warrior whether I liked it or not. I had a small child just born and here suddenly daddy was on the road not even seeing what was happening in her beautiful and growing life. I was now chasing money and going to whatever city had a client.

Two Week Free Trial - Up

Although based in Atlanta, Georgia in the southern region of the United States of America, I was now servicing clients in Augusta, GA, Charleston, SC, New York City, Secaucus, New Jersey, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Davenport, Iowa, Memphis, TN, and back to Atlanta. People were always telling me that Atlanta was this boom market and that everyone was doing great there. What I found in Atlanta for my industry was FAR from booming and FAR from making money as a technology service provider.

I was chasing money, living in and out of the Hampton Inn, Marriott Suites, and Extended Stay America hotels across the country. I was depressed, out of shape, lonely, but making money on these contracts. I lived in hotels 4 days out of the week and even gave up my house in Atlanta because I couldn’t see why I was living there. I would come back to Atlanta and stay in a hotel. I would then fly right back out on Monday morning on a 6 am flight.

I decided to change the entire ball game. I decided to learn how to make money on my website. I learned about search engine optimization. I learned Google AdSense and Google Adwords. I took classes and learned everything that I could to become a mass marketer and get products out there in a massive way to increase my website exposure and increase my ability to sell. I learned how to sell people what they want, not what I always wanted to sell them.
